Creative Industries Federation Fazeley Studios Event
Earlier today, Chris Bryant, shadow minister for the arts gave a speech at Fazeley Studios, sister building of the Custard Factory in the heart of Birmingham's Enterprize Zone.
As keynote speaker for the event organised by the Creative Industries Federation, he set out his view of the creative industry and how it can be a great force for change in the economy at large.
Often, mentioning the creative sector leads people to think of artists, actors and sculptors. Two of the creative industries are actually information technology and software development. It is the aim of the creative industries federation to ensure that both artists and creators are given the opportunities they need to grow.
During his speech, Chris Bryant told the Fazeley Studios audience that it is important to have strong creative industries as creativity is the long term powerhouse of the UK economy. As a country, it is important that we continue to nurture those industries that are not usually perceived as creative including the IT industry and even engineering which is about finding innovative solutions to our problems.
We are currently using our creative talents to provide solutions for small and medium sized enterprises (SME) with the aim of helping them to grow. It is one of our goals to be part of the positive force the creative industry will be for the UK economy over the long term.
